Council Permits
Do I Need a Permit?
Good news first — if your skip bin is placed entirely within your property boundary, no council permit is required.
You may need a permit before delivery if the bin is placed on:
- A public road
- A footpath or nature strip
- Any council‑owned land
Permit rules, costs, and approval times vary by council, so it’s always best to check your local council’s website.
Helpful Tip:
Council permits can be costly. In many cases, placing two smaller bins within your property can be more affordable (and quicker) than one large bin on public land.
